Hashimu Suleiman who was made famous for his
533km celebratory walk after Muhammadu Buhari
became President in April 2015 says he now
regrets the action.
The reason for this is not far fetched, according
to him it is because he expected more from the
President Buhari, and is dissatisfied with the way
the president has been ruling Nigeria so far.
Speaking about the removal of subsidy and
increase in fuel prices, he said; “Removing fuel
subsidy at this hard time is not palatable to hear,
when so many workers and labourers can hardly put
food on their table, many companies have folded up,
and cost of living is very high.
“Nigerians have been hoping for a positive change
for a very long time, enduring hardship and now the
Federal government wants to make things worse for
the masses.”
Hashimu met with President Buhari last April
after he had successfully walked from Lagos to
the FCT, where the President, who was yet to be
sworn in at the time, thanked him for the show of
support and presented him with a gift.
